Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received the letter of credence of the newly appointed Czech Ambassador Milan Sedláček: new prospects for cooperation between Czechia and Azerbaijan

In the past few days, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev received the newly appointed Czech Ambassador Milan Sedláček in an official function, who presented his letter of credence to the Head of State. During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation between the two countries, with a focus on the energy sector.

President Aliyev stated that there is good potential for increasing economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic, emphasising the interest in increasing mutual trade and citing the importance of high-level visits, including frequent interactions between the two nations’ delegations, for the development of bilateral ties. Regarding energy cooperation between the two nations, particularly in the fields of industry, agriculture and modern innovative technologies, the Azerbaijani president praised the good opportunities for cooperation, also emphasising the importance of transport infrastructure issues, given the increased volume of east-west freight transport passing through Azerbaijan; he also underlined the importance of establishing business partnerships and identifying mutual investment prospects. Speaking of which, Ambassador Milan Sedláček added that Czech President Miloš Zeman had instructed him to extend cooperation, especially in economic relations with Azerbaijan. Furthermore, expressing his country’s willingness to cooperate with Azerbaijan in the energy sector, the ambassador emphasised other projects, including the Czech Republic’s great interest in the Alat Free Economic Zone and the restoration and reconstruction work being carried out in the liberated territories.
