New measures to develop a distinct level of digital maturity: an added value to remain competitive on the market
Constant and growing technological evolution has resulted in a continuous proliferation of channels capable of providing access to information. Therefore, the certainty of having an effective internet network becomes essential to optimally manage economic activities and maintain high competitiveness on a market that is becoming increasingly automated.
In fact, according to data reported by Eurostat, there has been a consistent increase in the percentage of internet access since 2012. In detail, in Italy, about 99% of companies have achieved access to the internet connection, while only 1% do not declare their availability due to lack of information or insufficient IT infrastructure. This growth is undoubtedly due to the exponential increase in online consumption; in this sense, companies have had to adopt policies capable of managing this phenomenon; in fact, there is an increase in companies deciding to possess their own corporate website: according to data reported by Registro .it, from 2019 to 2021 the growth in domain registrations was about 6.6%. In addition, there is also an increase in the number of users making intensive employment of the features offered by social media, so as to guarantee services capable of reaching customers immediately, adopting effective channels, and ensuring a concrete global spread of their business.
However, in order to achieve a complete digital transition, a decisive increase in the level of digitalization is necessary. The Italian Government and the MITD (Ministry for Technological Innovation and Digital Transition) have implemented the so-called “Bonus PC” for businesses: the measure consists of a contribution to businesses of up to 2,500 euros, to ensure access to digital services; this is part of the Voucher Plan, the purpose of which is to create a better digital transition and which, from 2022, is no longer aimed only at families and individuals, but also at micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.
