Up to 200 new streetcars, worth 15 billion crowns to renew the trolleybus network in the capital city

Prague’s public transport company, DPP, has issued a tender for the renewal of the tram network. It concerns the supply of 200 vehicles with an estimated value of 15 billion crowns. 40 new vehicles will be purchased immediately, while the other 160 will be an option applicable until 2035. DPP will purchase the first 40 vehicles in two batches: the first 20 streetcars between January 1st and December 2nd, 2025, and the others 20 streetcars gradually during the year 2026. These purchases will cover not only the renewal of existing vehicles, but mainly the expansion of tram lines.

The DPP will evaluate bids submitted under the Law on the Awarding of Public Contracts according to economic practicability, based on ten evaluation criteria:

  • 50%: total price for the entire service item
  • 10%: guaranteed price for spare parts
  • 5%: total weight of the vehicle, the lowest weight will be considered the best offer
  • 6%: vehicle occupancy
  • 5%: range of the low-floor area of the tramway from the usable area of the vehicle for standing passengers
  • 6%: diameter of new wheels
  • 5%: provision of an electromechanical brake
  • 4%: Use of axles, offering a vehicle with a mechanical connection of the wheels on the axle
  • 2%: use of environmentally friendly refrigerant in air conditioning
  • 7%: length of warranty period.
