In the face of heavy sanctions against Russia, the whole of Europe is worried about the upcoming energy crisis. However, the Czech Republic has oil for more than three months and gas for more than a month. However, the situation is not underestimated.

This week, the crisis staff met at the ministry with the participation of the heads of the state energy companies and also the president of the State Administration of Material Reserves, with whom we are in regular contact. We constantly monitor the situation and are also prepared for the fact that the Russians will reduce or cut off the supply of energy raw materials to Europe. I want to emphasize one thing: there are sufficient reserves of oil, gas and fuel in the Czech Republic for nuclear power plants “, says the Minister of Industry and Trade Jozef Síkela, adding that there should be no problems with gas transmission on any of the four routes at the moment. “The route through Ukraine was used only minimally for deliveries to the local market for several years. 98-99% of the gas enters our system for the purpose of supplying the domestic market and international transit enters the domestic system. from Germany” describes Minister Sikel.

Stocks of crude oil and petroleum products exceed the European and national level of 90 days of average imports of the previous year. The Czech Republic has therefore had stocks of crude oil and petroleum products for more than three months. Additionally, the Czech Republic managed to suspend oil supplies in 2019, when the Druzhba pipeline was fully localized from April to June.

Gas storage facilities in the Czech Republic have a capacity of around 4 billion m3. In terms of per capita capacity, gas storage capacities in the Czech Republic are among the largest in Europe. Currently, around 800 million m3 are stored in these storage facilities in the Czech Republic, which would be more than a month with the current daily gas consumption, but due to the expected increase in average daily temperature and a reduction in daily consumption. of gas for a longer period.

Therefore, there is no concrete problem in sight, even if in the event of a possible emergency situation, domestic gas consumption should follow the indications of the transport system manager, NET4GAS, and the applicable legislation.
