The WMF continues its journey towards global innovation by bringing the International Roadshow directly to Prague

What is the WMF?

On Wednesday 19 April, the International Roadshow of WMF, the International Festival of Technology and Innovation, continued its journey towards global innovation at the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague. The project specifically consists of a tour of so-called “satellite events” created through direct collaborations with key stakeholders in different countries around the world with INNOVATION as the key point. This international roadshow covers 5 continents and stops in 29 countries contributing to a better future for all, consciously embracing digital tools and considering innovation, accessibility and equality as key values for the modern world, in addition, each event aims to reflect the culture and distinctiveness of the host city. As mentioned at the beginning, the first Italian-Czech Business Forum came to Prague in cooperation with the Italian-Czech Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the event’s partners included CzechTrade, the Italian Embassy in Prague, the Municipality of Prague and the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague. The aim of the event was to create synergies between Czech and Italian realities by creating a moment of discussion and exchange. Also central was the Startup Competition held throughout the event and divided into three ’rounds’.

Which startups are competing?

Vision Craft was the first startup to open the competition by presenting a system based on artificial intelligence capable of memorising the exercises imposed by the physiotherapist and monitoring the patient, correcting them if necessary. Then it was time for Moisture Guard, a system for continuous monitoring of moisture in structures that warns of water leaks and informs about the moisture status of structural elements in the home. Next came Aerarium chain, a service for museums, institutions and private individuals that monitors the state of preservation of works of art through 3D scanning and the use of an AI, furthermore all steps are notarised in blockchain and allow the generation of NFTMicros through which museums can generate new value. Next up is SED (Sound Event Detector), a solution that uses an algorithm based on machine learning technology to detect, classify and then warn of unwanted acoustic events, which can be a gunshot, a scream or a high level of urban noise. The first set of startups closed with RoboTwin, an alternative approach to automation based on tracking and imitating movements, in fact while an experienced worker demonstrates how to perform manual work on the first product in the series, the system tracks his movement and is able to imitate the exact movements and complete the other products in the series.

In the second session competed BeiT, an intelligent solution offering centralised online building management and remote metering of all types of energy by quickly controlling home consumption. Nimrod, a simultaneous bone-conduction translator, GreenTech which is the Czech leader in the development and production of hydroponic urban farms giving the possibility to grow and harvest fresh produce 365/7/24. PopulaRise a Popular People Marketing platform that does not exploit Influencers but ordinary people, friends, to sponsor and advertise. The last of the second round is Telma AI, an omnichannel platform powered by Artificial Intelligence aimed at optimising and automating communication with customers.

They then presented Robota, the first automated system for the sterilisation and management of surgical instruments; Urban Comfort, a system for mapping cities based on environmental vulnerability; and Arbo technology, the winning startup, which uses different types of data to assess the condition and characteristics of trees, identifying which ones represent a danger and which can be saved as safe.

The winner of the Startup Competition will be able to participate in networking and B2B activities at the WMF in Rimini, Italy, and will also have access to the Stage.
