Growing willingness to develop new business ideas: data show an encouraging scenario

According to data from the first quarter of 2022 provided by CRIF – Czech Credit Bureau- the awareness of wanting to do business is growing in the Czech Republic; in fact, according to CRIF analyst Věra Kameníčková- “The number of new companies has been relatively stable in recent months and has remained around the long-term monthly average. On the contrary, the number of defunct companies was lower in February and March than last year. The numbers for the whole first quarter are also similar to previous years. A weak trend can only be seen in the defunct companies; their number started to decrease slightly after a long time last year and this year the decline has further accelerated”.

.

In detail, from a territorial point of view, the formation of new companies in the first quarter was most pronounced in the Olomouc region (38 new companies for every 10 defunct companies) and in the Vysočina region (33 new companies for every 10 defunct companies), followed by the South Moravia region (30 new companies were founded).
As far as individual sectors are concerned, there was strong growth in the real estate, manufacturing, and commercial sectors over the same period. With regard to the latter sector, in the period under consideration, most companies were established in Prague (about 3,603), in the South Moravia region, and in the Moravian-Silesian region; however, the highest number of dissolved companies can be observed.  Finally, there has been significant growth in companies operating in agriculture, forestry, and fishing. Therefore, the prospects for transforming an entrepreneurial idea into a path dedicated to the tangible creation of a new enterprise are considered to be broad.
